For me it was not planned at all, because some work colleagues made the reservations and I didn’t know anything about the place where we were going until I arrived there. I really loved the vibe of the home from the first minute I entered and from this point things just got better. I met Angelique, Rene and Johan and each of them had so nice personalities, positive, open and always up for a joke. We had a Winter themed menu, with traditional Dutch food cooked by Angelique, who besides the fact that is a great cook, is also a great host and storyteller. She created the evening in such a way that everything was flowing and combining perfectly together. While Angelique was preparing some of the dishes served, Johan and Rene (their 12 yr old daughter) offered us an amazing drums and singing concert topped with beautiful stories about the people that they hosted in their studio along the years. Rene is an extremely talented musician both with her voice, drums and piano and in combination with Johan’s talent they just do a great team together! The evening ended with a spontaneous invitation for our driver to join in for deserts. We found out that he was a musician too :))
All in all I can say that it was a unique experience for me and a veritable example of how to use the art of hosting. Thank you Schmidt family! You are lovely! “
